After landing at Tocumen International Airport, you’ll leave behind the energy of Panama City and head west on the Pan-American Highway. The first stretch is smooth and easy, with modern roads and familiar stops along the way.
As you continue, the landscape begins to shift. The city fades into rolling countryside, small towns, and wide-open views. You’ll pass through regions like Santiago, where you can take a break, grab supplies, or stretch before heading deeper toward the coast.
After leaving the main highway, the journey becomes more adventurous. The roads narrow, the pavement gives way in sections, and the surroundings become increasingly remote. You’ll wind through lush tropical vegetation, cross small rivers, and pass through quiet villages where life moves at a slower pace.
